Our Service
Now and Then Counselling provides therapeutic counselling delivered by qualified, professionally registered practitioners. All therapists are clinically supervised by Qualified Health Care Professionals (QHPs) and engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and supervision to ensure ethical and effective practice.
Safeguarding and risk concerns are reported to and managed by the supervising QHP.
Eligibility and Scope
We offer talking therapy for individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges.
If your assessment indicates that you may require specialist or crisis-level care (e.g., psychiatric or GP-led support), we may refer you to your GP or another appropriate service. Where possible, we will provide additional resources to assist you.
All assessments are reviewed in collaboration with a clinical supervisor to ensure suitability.
Our services are not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have medical concerns, please consult your GP or another qualified healthcare professional.
Clients must reside in the UK for the majority of their therapy, in line with our insurance requirements and the standards of our accrediting body.
Initial Consultation
All clients will be contacted for a 15-minute introductory call to discuss their initial booking form and assess suitability. If our service is not appropriate, we will inform you and may not proceed with scheduling a session.
Confidentiality
All information shared with Now and Then Counselling is treated as strictly confidential and stored securely. Information may be shared only:
with your consent,
for clinical supervision purposes (anonymised where possible), or
where legally required (e.g., safeguarding concerns, risk of serious harm, or criminal disclosure obligations such as drug trafficking or terrorism).
Cancellations and Rescheduling
Sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 24 hours before the session without charge.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of a session may be charged in full.
To reschedule within 48 hours, please contact us directly by email.
GP and Emergency Contact
If your assessment or therapy raises serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, we may contact your GP or emergency services. Where possible, we will inform you of this communication in advance.
This duty of care aligns with the ethical and legal obligations of the BACP and other professional standards bodies.
Private Space for Online Sessions
Please ensure that you are in a confidential and private space for all online sessions. The counsellor reserves the right to end or reschedule a session if privacy cannot be maintained.
Fees
£50 per 50-minute session.
Concessionary rates may be available at the counsellor’s discretion.
Payment is required in advance of the first session and thereafter on the day of each session.
A free 15-minute introductory call is available for new clients.
Refunds are not issued for missed sessions without prior cancellation.
Records and Data Access
Session notes and assessments are securely stored in compliance with UK GDPR.
You may request access to your records by contacting your therapist directly.
Complaints
If you have a complaint, please raise it first with your counsellor.
If it requires formal review, you may escalate it to the practitioner’s professional body (e.g., BACP), ensuring that it is investigated in line with ethical and professional standards.
